´óÄ̸£Àû¼§Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life & Intercollegiate Athletics Workgroup Meet Nov. 4

Md. (Oct. 31, 2014) -- The ´óÄ̸£Àû¼§ (USM) Board of
Regents Committee on Education Policy and Student Life (EPSL) at its next
meeting will vote on a new academic program at Salisbury University and
consider information items in conjunction with the Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA)
Workgroup.
The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4 in the
President's Board Room, 14th floor of the Saratoga Building at the
University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB). The building is located at 220 North
Arch Street in Baltimore, Md.
The new academic program at Salisbury University is a M.S. in
athletic training. Information items before the committee are reports on
opening fall enrollments and the instructional workload of the ´óÄ̸£Àû¼§faculty.
There will also be an update on the ´óÄ̸£Àû¼§sexual misconduct policy.
The NCAA Division I institutions within the ´óÄ̸£Àû¼§will each present information
items before the Intercollegiate Athletics Workgroup. Those universities are
the University of Maryland Eastern Shore; University of Maryland, College Park;
Towson University; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and Coppin State
University.
After the public meeting, the committee and workgroup will vote on
whether to reconvene in closed session to discuss items that fall under closing
guidelines of the Open Meetings Act. Jointly, EPSL and ICA would discuss information about team academic performance
indicators and graduation rates that could reveal FERPA (Family Educational
Rights and Privacy Act)-protected information about individual students. The
committee and workgroup would also discuss matters concerning specific
personnel.
